Obituary of Devonne L. Bowman

BOWMAN – Devonne L., 81, of East Taylor Twp., passed away December 21, 2019 at Arbutus Park Manor.  Born September 11, 1938 in Mundy’s Corner, son of  Dwight and Bernadine (Kruise) Bowman.  Preceded in death by parents;  wife, the former Shirley (Graham) Bowman, to whom he was married 54 years; sister Wanda Sheeder; father-in law and mother-in-law: Arthur and Mary Graham.   Survived by children:   Roger D. (Kimberly) Bowman, Knox, Pa.;   Lori M. (John) Sturey, Elton;  Marcia L. Garman and fiance’ Jeff Penatzer, East Taylor Twp.; and  Linda S. (Joseph) Bellis, Butler;  also nine grandchildren:  Courtney (Evan) Petro; Caitlin Simmons; Kirsten (Dustin) Held; Ethan Sturey and fiancée Ashley Briggs; Carly Garman;  Alyssa & Brooke Bellis; and Ashley & Zachary Penatzer;   and great-grandchildren: Ryker Held and Carter Petro; and a third, Emersyn Rae Held, due this week.    Brother of Margie (Will) Bailey, Colver; Jeanne (Clark) Rose, Coraopolis;  Diane Meadows, Florida;  Caren (Barry) Turner, Lolo, Montana;  Gale Bowman, State College;  Dale (Mary) Bowman, Armaugh;  Darell (Susan) Bowman, Ebensburg;  brother-in-law Calvin Sheeder, Florida and numerous nieces and nephews.   A member of St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, Mundy’s Corner, where he had served as an usher and greeter, served on the church council and was the longtime church treasurer. Devonne retired as an accountant for the Pennsylvania Electric Company in 1994, he served as a manager, coach and officer for the East Taylor & Jackson Twp. Little League/Pony League, and was a member and former officer of the Conemaugh Valley Football Boosters.  Friends will be received from 2-8 p.m., Thursday, December 26^th at the Askew-Houser Funeral Homes, Inc., Ebensburg, and from 10:00 a.m. until time of Funeral Service at 11:00 a.m., Friday at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Pastor Kevin McNamara, officiating.  Interment at Ogden Cemetery, Jackson Twp..  In lieu of flowers, donations in Devonne’s memory may be made to the Interfaith Community Food Pantry, 993 Foster Street, Nanty Glo, Pa.  15943.
