GRECEK – Pearl Cecelia, 94, of Ebensburg, died February 5, 2020. Born March 27, 1925, in Conemaugh, daughter of the late Joseph F. and Stella (Wallavender) Hajduk. Preceded in death by husband, Michael; brothers Chester and Blaine Hajduk; and sister Jenny Duda. Pearl was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She is survived by loving daughter Cecelia “Cissy”, wife of Robert V. Spongross, Sr, of Vinco; and beloved grandson Robert V. Spongross, Jr., Mundys Corner. Also survived by sisters-in-law Carmella (Blaine) Hajduk, Ebensburg; and Susan (Andrew) Grecek, Ohio; as well as numerous nieces & nephews. Pearl was a former telephone operator for Bell Telephone Co. of Ebensburg & Altoona; former co-owner of the Grecek Hotel, Nanty Glo; and P&M Packing Meat Market, Beulah Road, along with her husband Michael. Pearl enjoyed going to bingo with her sister Jenny, was an excellent baker, and liked to do embroidery work. The family expresses thanks to the caring and compassionate caregivers at Rebekah Manor/Cambridge of Ebensburg, and to Mary Ann, RN and staff of 365 Hospice. Friends will be received from 4-6 p.m. Friday at the Askew-Houser Funeral Home, Inc., Ebensburg. A funeral mass will be held on Saturday at 1:30 p.m. at Holy Name Catholic Church; Rev. Brian Warchola, celebrant. Entombment at Holy Name Mausoleum.
