Please share a memory of Lois to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

MARDIS – Lois J. “Jean”, 70, of Belsano, passed away March 9, 2020 at Shadyside Hospital, Pittsburgh. Born May 28, 1949 in Colver, daughter of the late Clifford F. and Edith L. (Misner) Smith. Preceded in death by brother, Paul Smith. Survived by husband, Robert “Butch”, whom she married on April 3, 1971; and daughters, Kimberly and Amy. Grandsons, (The 3 boys”) Isiah (Danielle Hayes), Preston and Caleb. Also survived by sister, Sally (Gary Lech) Smith; brother, Fred (Bonnie) Smith; sister in law, Sharon (Russell) Roles; and numerous nieces and nephews. Jean also will be missed by her rescue furbabies, Reese, Dusty and Black Cat. There wasn’t a stray animal brought to her that didn’t stay (…and we brought home many.)  Previously employed by the former BestForm Foundations as a seamstress. Jean enjoyed planting multiple flower gardens every spring, and sitting on her back porch watching the wildlife. She always made sure her family was taken care of, before herself. We could not have asked for a better wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt or friend. “Do things for people, not because of who they are or what they do in return, but because of who you are.” – Harold Kushner. Friends will be received from 4 p.m. until time of funeral service at 6 p.m. on Friday at the Askew-Houser Funeral Homes, Inc., Nanty Glo, Pastor Walt Misner, officiating. Interment, UB Cemetery, Belsano.
