GROVE – Evelyn Lucille, 96, of Alverda, fell asleep in death on April 13, 2020 at home, surrounded by her family. Born May 18, 1923 in Mineral Point, the youngest of seven children, daughter of the late Robert W. and Alice M. (Lewis) Ritchey. Preceded in death by husband, Ralph L. Grove in 1999; brothers and sisters, Clyde (Lillian); Hazel (Harold) Carney; Merle (Dorothy); Floyd (Mamie); Alice Mae (Dwight) Buchanan; and Melvin (Alvira).  She is the last surviving member of her immediate family. Survived by her daughters, Elaine (James) Ladebue; Darla (Ronald) Presto; Kathy (James) Clark; and Karen Grove, who gave her undivided attention and love in caring for her mother. “Meemaw” is also survived by grandsons, Justin Clark and wife Crystal; and Jared Clark and wife Tausha; and cherished great grandchildren, Olivia Clark; and Jaycee and Javin Clark. She is also survived by many loving and dear relatives and friends.  She was a private duty nurse, retiring in 1993. Evelyn enjoyed traveling with her husband, Ralph and their children throughout the United States, Canada and Mexico. She was an exceptional cook and especially loved making pies of all sorts for friends and family functions. Evelyn was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in St. Benedict. Her greatest joy was to visit people in the house to house preaching work, encouraging them with scriptures, such as Psalm 37:29-“The righteous will possess the earth and they will live forever on it” This is Evelyn’s hope for the near future. Her family wishes to thank Conemaugh Home Health nurses and the Conemaugh Hospice staff, especially Judi and Sherri, who showed great love and concern for our mother and our family.  Due to the current public health restrictions, there will be no viewing or services at this time. Arrangements are in care of the Askew-Houser Funeral Homes, Inc., Nanty Glo.  Condolences may be left for the family at: www.askew-houser.com.
