Obituary of Margaret E. Prokop

PROKOP – Margaret E. “Peg” (Murphy), 77, of Colver, passed away June 28, 2021 at Excella Health, Latrobe Hospital. She was a caring wife, mother, grandma, sister and friend.  Born September 22, 1943 in Ebensburg, daughter of the late Charles E. and Emma (Fidorra) Murphy.  Preceded in death by beloved grandson Steven R. Prokop, and sister, Nancy (Joe) Verbosky.  Survived by husband,  Michael J. “Jack” Prokop, to whom she was married 50 years; and children:  Ronald (Tricia) Prokop, Duncansville; Larry (Bonnie) Prokop, Florida; Kenneth (Amy) Prokop, Huntingdon; and Nicole (Chad) Olexa, Loyalhanna, Pa.  Peg was a proud grandmother to Jason Prokop (Kristy Jackson); Matthew (Anna) Prokop; Justin Prokop (Sarah Watson); Brandon Prokop;  Kiersten Wills;  and Andrew & Emma Olexa.  Also survived by brothers and sisters:  Patrick (Mary Jo) Murphy, Colver, Jean (David) Bracken, Ebensburg, Linda (Ronald) Winning, Colver and Michael (Denise) Murphy, Ebensburg.  Peg was a member of Holy Family Roman Catholic Church, Colver.  She retired from the former JoAnn Apparel in Ebensburg.  A gifted seamstress, she enjoyed sewing and baking and will be forever remembered for her Rice Krispy Treats.  She loved her family and enjoyed time spent with them.  Friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday at the Askew-Houser Funeral Homes, Inc., Ebensburg, where a vigil prayer service will be held.  A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday at Holy Family Church, Colver, the Rev. Fr. Christopher Lemme, TOR, celebrant.  Interment at Holy Family Cemetery.
