GERO - George, 82, of Vintondale, passed away Dec. 31, 2007 at Memorial Medical Center. Born June 21, 1925 in Vintondale, son of the late George and Julia (Papp) Gero. Preceded in death by half brother Joseph Luka; half sister Ida (Luka) Sipos and brother Elmer Gero. Survived by wife of 59 years, former Ethel Jane Molnar, and children Barbara (Daniel) Tripp, Michigan; George (Susan), Illinois; and Deborah Gero, Vintondale. Also survived by five grandchildren, two great grandchildren, sister Elizabeth Nagy, Vintondale, several nieces and nephews and his beloved companion and pet, Pixie. Member of St. Paul s Lutheran Church, Mundys Corner. Retired craneman with US Steel Corp. Member of Dilltown Sportsmans Club. An avid hunter and fisherman, George was a lifelong farmer who loved to garden. He was proud of his Hungarian heritage and spoke Hungarian and English fluently. A devoted family man and loving husband who will be sadly missed by all who knew him. Friends will be received from 2-4 & 7-9 pm Thursday at the Askew-Houser Funeral Homes, Inc., Nanty Glo. Funeral Service at 11am Friday at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Pastor Lynn M. Miller, officiating. Interment, Armagh Cemetery.
