FYE – Richard Edward, Sr., “Dick”, 90, of Nanty-Glo, went to be with the Lord January 12, 2022 at home. Born January 25, 1931 in Nanty Glo, son of the late Edward and Lulu Fye. Preceded in death by wife, Yvonne; son, Richard; daughter, Deanna Hobba; and several siblings. Last surviving member of his immediate family. Survived by daughters, Sherry (Jerry) Mardis; Maggie Johnson; and Becky Keen. 7 Grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren, with one on the way! Also survived by son in law, Robert Hobba; and numerous nieces and nephews. Member of Nanty Glo Christian & Missionary Alliance Church. US Army veteran having served in the Korean War. Retired from US Steel with 33 years of service. Dick enjoyed riding horses in his younger days, hunting, fishing and camping with his wife and grandkids, where he was a lifelong member at Moshannon Hunting Club. Dick liked to watch old western movies and read books on westerns and the wars. He loved his family, especially his wife, kids and grandkids, and will be sadly missed by all who knew him. A gathering of family and friends will be held from 2-4 p.m. on Sunday at the Askew-Houser Funeral Homes, Inc., Nanty Glo, where funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Pastors Russ Havener and Geno Bartoletti, officiating. (Masks recommended) Interment, Forest Lawn Cemetery, Johnstown. Military Rite by Blacklick Valley Ritual Team. In lieu of flowers, donations in Dick’s memory may be made to Nanty Glo C & MA Church or to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Condolences may be left for the family at www.askew-houser.com.
