CASELLA – Betty I., 97, of Nanty Glo, passed peacefully at the Hummingbird Personal Care Home on Sunday, Feb. 13, 2022. Born March 6, 1924 in Salina, PA, daughter of the late Fred and Mary (Kay) Jewitt. Betty, who was a loving wife, mother and grammam, will join her husband, Thomas E. Casella in heaven, along with grandson, Thomas Christian; brothers, Harry and Bill Jewitt; and sisters, Sarah Jane Stanko and Mary Phillipson. Betty leaves her loving children, Sandra Casella; Barry (Teresa) Casella; and Cindy (Bill) Midock; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Betty was an active member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Nanty Glo. She enjoyed doing plastic canvas, traveling and most of all going to the casinos and gambling. Friends will be received from 3-6 p.m. on Wednesday at the Askew-Houser Funeral Homes, Inc., Nanty Glo.  Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday at St. Mary’s Church, the Rev. Leonard Voytek, celebrant. (Masks required at the funeral home and church.)
