Obituary of Harry Sowolla

SOWOLLA - Harry, 84, of Bethesda, Maryland, passed away on April 9, 2022 at Suburban Hospital, Bethesda, Maryland. Born August 11, 1937 in Nanty Glo, son of the late George and Justina (Petrick) Sowolla. Preceded in death by brothers, Michael, John “Yank”, Andrew, George and Steve; and sisters, Helen Rivera, Mary Wolsky and Ann Faish. Harry was the last surviving member of his immediate family. Survived by daughters, Tina Marie Sowolla-Baker; Tammy Jean Sowolla; and Tiffany Ann (Patrick Samuel) Sowolla-Carner. Also survived by grandsons, Jason Parks, Christopher and Kevin Carner; great grandson, Gavin Parks; numerous nieces and nephews; and his loving companion, Shirley Underwood. Member of Holy Ascension Orthodox Church, Nanty Glo. Retired from the Federal Government as a machine shop foreman. Harry was a jack of all trades. He loved working on many things and enjoyed fixing them. Friends will be received from 5-7 p.m. on Friday at the Askew-Houser Funeral Homes Inc., Nanty Glo, where Parastas will be held that evening. Funeral Liturgy will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday at Holy Ascension Orthodox Church, the Very Rev. Ihor Protsak, officiating. Interment, Holy Ascension Cemetery.
