Obituary of Marie Rose Brisini

Marie Rose (Moyer) Brisini, age 98, of Ebensburg, passed away peacefully May 27, 2022.  She will be dearly missed and forever in the hearts of her family and friends.

Marie was born December 28, 1923 in Portage Pennsylvania to the late J. Sherman Moyer, Sr. and Ruth (Young) Moyer.  Marie graduated top of her class from Portage High School in 1941. She worked at the offices of the former Portage Throwing Mills (known locally as the Silk Mills) during WWII.  After the war, Marie married the love of her life and started her family. Marie was an active member and frequent officer of the Ebensburg Women’s Club for over 60 years.  She was an accomplished bowler and belonged to the Ladies Afternoon Bowling League for 37 years.  She was also an avid swimmer, proud of the Red Cross certificate she earned by swimming more than 50 miles a year. Above all, her favorite pastime was spending time with her family; she often had a house full of family and friends with something freshly baked on the counter.

Marie is preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Dr. Samuel F. Brisini, Sr.;  her siblings: Harriet Moyer;  Ruth (Tootsie) Richardson and J. Sherman Moyer, Jr. and close family friend Jerry Graizer.

Marie was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She is survived by her children:  Joyce Itle (husband William);  Samuel Jr. (wife Rebecca); Vincent (wife Jana); Janet Selvig (husband David); grandchildren Carissa Westrick (husband Ryan);  Cortney Hirt (husband Brandon);  Lindsey Skandsen (husband Anders);  Nathan McKeta (wife Angela);  Travis Brisini (wife Kellie);  Ryan Brisini (wife Ally); Samantha Brisini; and great-grandchildren: Will, Sophie, Ian, Viggo, Linus, Margaux, Thea, and Ernie.

Marie’s family extends heartfelt thanks to her home caregivers for the excellent care, comfort, and company they provided.  A private family service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Marie’s memory to the Holy Name  School  Angel Fund,  500 N.
