Obituary of Hilda Jean (Walsh) Moose

MOOSE – Hilda “Jean” (Walsh), 87, formerly of Nanty Glo, passed away peacefully on May 28^th, 2022 at Cambridge of Ebensburg with family by her side.  Born June 17^th, 1934 in Barnesboro, daughter of the late John and Margaret (Plouse) Walsh.  Preceded in death by her loving husband James Moose to whom she shared 50 wonderful years of marriage before his passing in October of 2012 and brother, Francis Walsh and sister-in-law Winfred Walsh.  Survived by children:  Ricky Moose, Johnstown;  Linda (Allen) Russell, Mineral Point; and Joyce (Earl) Hockenberry, Nanty Glo;  nine grandchildren:  Rick Lyttle; Jodi Hartman; Shaina Moose; Jessica, Kelli, Christi, and Jennifer  Russell; and Kimberly & Kaitlyn Hockenberry and 15 great-grandchildren.  Jean grew up in Barnesboro and had been employed at the former Van Heusen Shirt Factory, the Valley Dairy Restaurant, Ebensburg and retired after 25 years of service at Penn Gables Restaurant in Ebensburg.  Jean attended Nanty Glo First Baptist Church.  Jean loved gardening and was known for her beautiful flowers, home grown veggies and fresh pressed cider, as well as her beautiful smile.  Friends will be received from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at the Askew-Houser Funeral Homes, Inc., Nanty Glo, where a Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, Pastor Geno Bartoletti, officiating.  Interment at Pike Brethren Cemetery, Mundys Corner.
