Obituary of Marie Elizabeth Woomer

WOOMER - Marie Elizabeth (Smith) 83, formerly of Summerhill, passed away peacefully May 28^th, 2022 at Maple Winds, Portage.  Born April 23, 1939 at home in New Germany, daughter of the late Benno and Clara (Frank) Smith.  Preceded in death by her husband Jim G. Woomer,  whom she married on July 18^th, 1959;  brother Bill Smith and sister Irene Becker.  
Survived by children: Martin married to Mary Fox;  John married to Donna Holtz;  Paul Woomer and Jerry Woomer.  Also grandchildren:  Martin Jr (Holly) Woomer;  Christina (Timothy)  Finn; Brandie (Brandon) Koelle;  Becky (Kyler) Sederwall;  Brian (Victoria) and Eric;  and great-grandchildren:  Devin, Lauren, Samantha, Bradford, Emma, Cara, and Baby Woomer.  Special niece and God-daughter Lori (Mike) Tolli.   Also survived by brothers:  Dave (Cindy) Smith; Ronald (Bonnie) Smith;  Fred (Bonnie) Smith; and sisters: Camilla (Bill) Miller;  Naomi (John) Stowhan , Kate Smith,  and Patty (Jim) Feather.   Marie graduated from South Fork-Croyle High School in 1957.  She was a dedicated wife, mother and grandmother and served as secretary for the family business Jim Woomer & Sons.  She was a talented artist who enjoyed painting and drawing.  Marie was also an accomplished seamstress, always making clothing or baby dolls for her grandchildren.  She enjoyed baking, reading and doing puzzles, and always was up for a good old western on TV.   Above all, Marie loved being a grandma and she was the absolute best.  From sleepovers to arguments over who got to stay at her house longer all of her grandchildren felt her love.   Her kindness, love, and guidance are ever present within her family today.  “Good Bye Grandma Woomer, we love you”.   At Marie’s request there will be no public viewing.  Friends are welcome to join the family in a Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, June 2^nd,  at St. Bartholomew Church, Wilmore, Rev. Fr. Joseph C.
