RYLKE – Alberta Marie “Bert”, 94, of Fredericksburg, Virginia, formerly of Ebensburg, passed away August 7th, 2022 in Fredericksburg.  Born April 17, 1928 in Pittsburgh, daughter of the late Francis and Luella (Lowe) Crouse.  Preceded in death by husband of 57 years, Walter Rylke, granddaughter, Sara E. Fabian, and brother Edward Crouse.  Survived by daughters:  Judith (Roger) Hughes, Fredericksburg, VA; and Barbara Fry, Pittsburgh;  sister: Geraldine (Bob) Lightner of Ebensburg; and grandchildren: Kimberly G. (Matthew) Williams, Amanda B. (Derek) Johnson, Jonathon D. Hughes, Morgan A. (Justin) Milstead, Megan E. (Wes) Thomason, Whitney L. (John) Patterson, as well as fourteen great-grandchildren.  Alberta was a long-time member of the Ebensburg First Presbyterian Church, where she was active in the Presbyterian Women’s Association,  volunteering with church dinners, Liturgical Banner sewing, and the church Christmas decorating committee.   She was part owner and bookkeeper along with her husband at the former Ebensburg Lumber Supply.   Bert will be long remembered for her sewing skills, crocheting, knitting, and ceramics.  She loved her family and enjoyed doting over her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  Former member of the Ebensburg chapter of the Order of Eastern Star.  In her early years, she had been active in bowling, cooking, and enjoyed card parties (especially pinochle and bridge).  In her later years, she loved to do puzzles.  Friends will be received from 10:00 a.m., Saturday, August 13th, until the time of funeral service at 11:00 a.m., at the Askew-Houser Funeral Homes, Inc., Ebensburg, Rev. Owar Ojulu, officiating.  Interment at Oak Cemetery, Daisytown, Johnstown.  In lieu of flowers, donations in Alberta’s memory may be made to the St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, stjude.org.
