BATTISTA - Joseph J., 78, of Ebensburg, passed away on Monday September 12, 2022 at Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center after a long illness.  Born  August 7, 1944 in Johnstown, son of the late Joseph and June (Parsons) Battista. Preceded in death by his brother Robert D. Battista.  Survived by wife of 53 years, Rosemarie (Sharbaugh) Battista and children:  Andrew "Drew" (Allison) Battista, Charlottesville, VA;  Mimi (Brian) Green, Alexandria, VA; and  Louis Battista, of Ebensburg;  Also grandchildren:  Isabel & Emmy Battista, and Kyle, Rachel & Michael Green.  Brother of Connie (Daniel) Sloan; Donald (Patti) Battista, both of Florida; and Nancy (Michael) Roderick, Maryland.   Joe was a graduate of the Kings Point Merchant Marine Academy, where he attained his engineering degree.  He was retired from Penelec/GPU in 1999 with 30 years of service.  An avid golfer and gardener, he enjoyed spending time with his family and doing crossword puzzles.  A lifelong member of Holy Name Roman Catholic Church.  Friends will be received from  6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Friday at the Askew-Houser Funeral Homes, Inc., Ebensburg, where a vigil prayer service will be held.  Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, Sept 17th at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Name Church, the Rev. Brian Warchola, celebrant.  Entombment at Holy Name Mausoleum.  Condolences to the family may be left at www.askew-houser.com
