Obituary of Rose M. Novitsky

NOVITSKY – Rose M., 73, of Jackson Twp., passed away peacefully April 14, 2019 at Memorial Medical Center, surrounded by her loving family. Born November 15, 1945 in Johnstown, daughter of the late John Sr., and Hermina (Jakubac) Kubenko. Preceded in death by sister Anne Brown and brother-in-law Donald Yackulich. Survived by husband, Thomas M., to whom she was married 53 years and children: Thomas (Nicole) Novitsky, Jr.; and Christine (John) Weber. Also grandchildren: Grace, Ella, TJ, and JT; brother John (Pam) Kubenko; sister-in-law Donna Yackulich; and several nieces and nephews. Rose was an active member of St. Mary’s Byzantine Catholic Church in Cambria City, where she and her husband were active volunteers for the church festivals. She loved her husband, children and grandchildren. She was formerly employed as a Marketing Director for Crown American Corporation, and had also worked for the former Portage Bank (S&T) and served as an office manager at Boyer Candy Company. Friends will be received from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday at the Askew-Houser Funeral Homes, Inc., Nanty Glo, where a vigil prayer service will be held. Funeral Liturgy will be held at 11:30 a.m., Wednesday at St. Mary’s Byzantine Church, the Rev. Msgr. Raymond Balta, celebrant. Interment at Forest Lawn Cemetery, Johnstown. In lieu of flowers, donations in Rose’s memory may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital (www.stjude.org/donate).
