Obituary of Katherine A. Sergent

SERGENT – Katherine, 79, of Belsano, passed away September 25, 2022 at The Gardens at Indiana. Born July 30, 1943 in Vintondale, daughter of the late Andrew and Catherine (Boback) Jacobs. Preceded in death by granddaughter, Kristina Sergent; siblings, Helen, Mary, Irene, Andrew Jr., Dorothy and two infant sisters. Survived by husband, Barry Sergent, after a marriage union of 61 years; and children, Kevin (Renee); Brian (Preeti); Christine Sergent; and Jeffrey (Julie). Grandchildren, Shane (Sophia); Shauna (Seth) Welsh; Erika; Abby; Baylee; Luke; Michelle; Jeff Lee; and Travis. Great Granddaughters, Genevieve, Margot, Maude and Evelyn. Also survived by sisters, Margaret Wilkinson; Shirley Zech; and Nancy (James) Lewis; and numerous nieces and nephews. Kathy was an amazing wife, mother and grandmother, known for her sharp sense of humor. She also loved her dogs. After raising her children, she went on to build a career starting her own refractories business and later becoming an award winning real estate agent. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends. At Kathy’s request there will be no viewing. Funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday at St. John Vianney Catholic Church, Mundys Corner, the Rev. Timothy Harris, TOR, celebrant. Committal, St. Mary’s Cemetery, Nanty Glo. In lieu of flowers, please offer a Mass in Kathy’s name at church or make a donation to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in her memory.
