Obituary of Kenneth L. Brothers

BROTHERS - Kenneth Lynn "Elmo",  73, of Ebensburg, passed away January 4, 2023.  Born on February 26, 1949 in Colver, son of the late John and Eloise (Spicher) Brothers.  Preceded in death by brother Thomas and sisters: Beverly Rusnak and Patricia Sherry. Survived by wife, the former Susanne Marie (Grata) Brothers, to whom he was married 50 years; and children: Kenneth L. (Crystal) Brothers; Jean Marie (Mike) Green; Jeremy L. (Trudy) Brothers;  Andrew M. Brothers; and Kathryn S. Brothers;  Also 19 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.  Also survived by brothers and sister: John L. Brothers, Jr.; Donna Bechel; Harry Brothers; and R. Michael Brothers, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.  Ken had been retired as a welder for Bethlehem Steel Corp and served as a Pennsylvania Drivers License Examiner for five years.  A Vietnam veteran of the US Marine Corps., Ken was the recipient of the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal w/ one star; Vietnam Campaign Medal with device and the Rifle Markesman Badge.  He was a member of VFW Post 4963, Ebensburg.  At his request there will be no viewing. A Memorial Service will be held  at  2:00 p.m.,  with a gathering an hour prior, on  Friday Jan. 13, 2023 at Community Bible Church, Munster Rd., Portage, the Rev. Jeff Dollar, officiating.  Interment, Lloyd Cemetery, Ebensburg.  Arrangements are in the care of the Askew-Houser Funeral Homes, Inc., Ebensburg,  Condolences to the family may be left at www.askew-houser.com
