SCHMIEDER – Gaynelle, 68, of Ebensburg, passed away Jan. 8, 2023 after a second courageous battle with lung cancer. Born Dec. 3, 1954 in Johnstown, daughter of the late Donald and Eileen Clites. Survived by husband, Mark to whom she was married for 37 years and children, Amber; and Don (Elaine). Grandchildren, Sorina (Michael); Kara; Aiden; and Kolt. Great Granddaughters, Vanessa and Gianna. Also survived by sisters, Suni (George); Donita (Jim); and Heather (Chris); brother, Cory (Karen); and numerous nieces and nephews. The loves of her life were her kitties: Buddy, Cloe, Cally and Baby Sun. After receiving her bachelors degree in nursing from St. Francis College, Gaynelle went on to obtain her masters degree from Clarion University in education. She spent her career in various hospitals performing nursing duties in a variety of settings including patient care, hospice, director of nursing, and cancer research. Although, her true passion was in education at Penn Highlands Community College in which she left a lasting impact on the lives of her students. At the end of her distinguished career, she was honored with obtaining an emeritus status. And as Gaynelle would say, "If you find a job you love, you will never work another day in your life.” Friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Thursday at the Askew-Houser Funeral Homes, Inc., Nanty Glo, and from 10:30 a.m. until time of memorial service at 11 a.m. on Friday  at First Baptist Church of  Nanty Glo, Pastor Geno Bartoletti, officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations in Gaynelle’s memory may be made to The Humane Society of Cambria County.  Condolences may be left for the family at www.askew-houser.com
