Obituary of Stephen Hurtack

HURTACK – Stephen C., 58, formerly of Mundy’s Corner, passed away peacefully March 7, 2023 at Miner’s Hospital.  Beloved son of George and Barbara (Gartrell) Hurtack.   Steve was born on November 22, 1964.  He had a love of his family. Steve enjoyed music, bowling, dancing, and fishing.  He participated in the Special Olympics bowling and volleyball.  He graduated from the Vinco Center, and worked at the  Association of the Blind and Handicapped, retiring after 31 years, he attended Skills of PA and resided at the Kennedy House in Northern Cambria.  Steve is survived by his devoted mother Barbara, whom he adored for her selfless dedication;  brother, Joe (Sandy) Hurtack, of East Berlin;  sister, Kathleen (Jim) Stefanik, Ebensburg; nieces and nephews: Kevin, Keith, Tim, Leanne, and Andy, and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.  Meeting Stephen in Heaven is his father, who passed in 2010.  Steve’s family greatly appreciates the Kennedy House and their staff, especially Julie, for the comfort, support and care they gave him. A special thank you to Dr. Michaeleen Wilson.  A Funeral Mass for family and friends will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, March 13th, at St. John Vianney Roman Catholic Church, Mundy’s Corner, Rev. Fr. Timothy Harris, TOR, celebrant.  Interment at Holy Name Cemetery, Ebensburg.  Contributions in Stephen’s memory may be made to the Kennedy House, 819 23rd Street Northern CambriaPA – 15714.  Arrangements are in the care of the Askew-Houser Funeral Homes, Inc, Nanty Glo.  Condolences to the family may be left at www.askew-houser.com
