Obituary of Randolph James Bopp

BOPP - Randolph James "Randy" Bopp, 65, of Berwick, passed away on April 27, 2023, son of the late Cletus and Marjorie (Miller) Bopp, Randy was born September 27, 1957, and raised in Ebensburg.

Loving father of Rebecca (Joseph) Sinnott; Alyssa (Jason) Welch; and Russell (Brittany) Bopp. Proud grandfather of Michael, Anthony, Nicholas, and Maria Sinnott; Connor and Gavin Welch; and Rowan and Harper Bopp. He is survived by his seven younger siblings: Sue Armold; Beverly (Jim) Hite; Matt (Linda); Cindy (Skip) Gingrich; Karen (Mark Smith) Bopp; Bart (Amy); and Brad (Jenn). He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Randy was a free spirit with a unique approach to living. He loved nature and rose early each day, eager to tackle some sort of project. A handyman extraordinaire who was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need, he would dive into plumbing, electrical, mechanical, landscaping, and carpentry jobs without hesitation.

While he enjoyed working on home improvement projects with his children, nothing got “Gramps” more excited than going on hikes with his grandchildren, teaching them how to play chess, telling them jokes and imaginative stories, and sharing with them his passion for bikes.

Most recently, Randy had discovered a penchant for pickleball, enjoying the camaraderie and competition of the sport at the Berwick YMCA. He was also an avid reader with a deep sense of curiosity, a genuine love for people, and a knack for writing poetry.

His hearty laugh and adventurous spirit will be missed dearly.
  
Friends and family will be received from 10:00 a.m. until noon on Saturday, followed by a brief memorial service at the Askew-Houser Funeral Homes, Inc., 300 N. Julian St., Ebensburg.  Interment will be private. Condolences may be left for the family at www.askew-houser.com
