Eugene "Gene" Molnar Obituary

MOLNAR – Eugene “Gene”, 91, of Mundys Corner, peacefully joined his loving wife in Heaven on May 14, 2023, surrounded by his family. Born Jan. 13, 1932 in Cleveland, Ohio, son of the late Eugene, Sr. and Anna (Paul) Molnar. Preceded in death by wife, Donna J.  (Fisher) Molnar; brothers, Ernest and Paul; and grandson, Ron Dax. Survived by children, David (Kari) Molnar; Michele (Earl) Ivory; and Mark (Stephanie) Molnar. Grandchildren, Michael (Leila) Molnar, Brianne (Paul) Verardi, Amber (Tim) Schmitt, Shane Adams, Morgan and Alec Molnar. Great grandsons, Corey and Nathan Schmitt. Also survived by brother, Albert (Georgia) Molnar; sister, Mary Ann Lantzy (Ed Joyce); three sisters-in-law and numerous nieces and nephews. Member of St. John Vianney Catholic Church, Mundys Corner. US Army veteran having served during the Korean War. Owner/Operator of Molnar Upholstery for 60 years. An avid Pittsburgh sports fan, Gene enjoyed the great outdoors including hunting, golfing, hosting family picnics and fishing, especially on Glendale Lake and the Clarion River.  He was well known for his sense of humor and great jokes. Gene loved spending time with his family and will be sadly missed. A special thank you to all of his caregivers at Nealen Personal Care, Penn Hospice, The Hollidaysburg Veterans Home and others who helped care for Gene. In lieu of flowers, donations are asked to be made to one of these organizations and/or to St. John Vianney Church in his memory.  Friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Thursday at the Askew-Houser Funeral Homes, Inc., Nanty Glo. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday at St. John Vianney Church. Military Rite by Blacklick Valley Ritual Team.
