James E. Cameron Obituary

CAMERON – James E., 84, of Colver, passed away May 26th. 2023 at The Presbyterian Village, Hollidaysburg.  Born July 26, 1938 in Colver, son of the late Clyde and Janet (Sloan) Cameron.  Preceded in death by wife, the former Eleanor (Jones) Cameron, and son-in-laws: Terry Moore and David Irwin.  Survived by children:  Richard (Helen) Cameron, Zelienople, PA.; Dr. Russell (Robin) Cameron, Dubois, PA.; Lynn Moore and Deborah Cameron, both of Ebensburg, PA.; Jamie (James) McGhee, Nanty Glo, PA.; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; his special steadfast companion, Patty Butterbaugh; brothers and sisters:  Richard (Diane) Cameron; Samuel Cameron; Margaret (Alan) Jones; and Beth Ann Barstow.  Jim graduated from the Ebensburg-Cambria High School in 1956, and then earned a diploma in Electronic Instrumentation and Control from the DeVry Technical Institute. He was retired from Bethlehem Steel Corp where he served as a crane operator and welder.  In his retirement years, he worked as a school bus, limousine and tow truck driver.  He was a longtime member of the Colver Presbyterian Church and Past Master of the Summit Lodge #312 F. & A.M.  Jim was an avid golfer, pinochle player and all-around handyman who could fix anything.   


 


Friends will be received from 2:00 p.m., Sunday at the Askew-Houser Funeral Homes, Inc., Ebensburg, where a Masonic Service will be held.  A Memorial Service will follow at 4:00 p.m.,  the Rev. Owar Ojulu, officiating.  Interment at Lloyd Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Jim’s memory may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association (www.alz.org)
