MARDIS - Geraldine “Jerry”,  87, of Jackson Twp, passed away peacefully on August 12, 2023 at home surrounded by her family. Born October 22, 1935 in Bakerton, daughter of the late Bernard and Mildred (Kibler) Doran. Preceded in death by her husband, Richard “Buck” Mardis, daughter Arleen (Dale) Smith, grandson Andrew Herndon, foster-son Terry Lee Zack, sisters Rosemary Keefe and Frances (NeNe) Burgo, and brother John Doran.  Survived by children:  Nancy (Kenneth) Fisher, Philip (Mary) Mardis;  Pamela (Kenneth) Rieg, Mark Mardis, and Karan (William) Nealen Jr.;  grandchildren; Daniel, Michael, Isaac, Nikole, John, Aaron, Anna, Breann, William III, Zachary; great grandchildren; Tyler, Michelle, Maddy, Keona, Bryce, Gabe, Joplin, Payton, Maverick, Wyatt, Nikara, Sirus, Leon, Killian, Jayvon, Katie, Declan, Cameron, Landyn, August, Liam, Grace and numerous others.  Also survived by brother Michael (Joan) Doran and sister Mary Ann (Doran) Callahan; Geraldine worked as a seamstress in Nanty Glo and Ebensburg, later retiring and devoting the rest of her able years to caring for those with special needs, eventually taking on a foster child whom she loved with all her heart. She enjoyed visits from her family, the occasional outing, her cats Itty Bitty and Tom, sitting on her chair and doing her puzzles. She will be most remembered by her strong mindedness and being a passionate person that loved everyone unconditionally. Friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the Askew-Houser Funeral Homes, In., Nanty Glo, where a Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, the Rev. Scott Lill, Chaplain at Penn Hospice, officiating.  Interment at Pike Cemetery, Mundy’s Corner.  In lieu of flowers donations in Jerry’s memory may be made to the Cambria County Humane Society.  www.humanecambria/donate
