Obituary of Lois Marie Fertick

FERTICK - Lois Marie, 93, of Ebensburg, went to be with the Lord on August 17, 2023 surrounded by her loving family.  Born on March 4, 1930 in Jackson Twp., daughter of the late Irvin "Pete" and Helen (Dishong) Jenkins-Stennett.  Preceded in death by husband Ario "Casey" Fertick;  daughter,  Rhonda (Fertick) Bishop;  brother Kenneth Jenkins, Sr., and special companion Larry Brisini.    Survived by children:  Donald (Barb) Fertick; Glenda (John) Ritchick; Lexine Parkin; and Danette (Doug) Hughes; as well as numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  Also survived by brother, Jerry (Carolyn) Jenkins and sister-in-law Janice Jenkins; and numerous nieces and nephews.  Lois was only eight years old when she contracted Polio.  Her Polio never interfered with her ability to get a job or raise a family.  She was married for 35 years and raised five children.  Lois loved making wedding cakes and chocolate candy.  She enjoyed celebrating holidays with meals and picnics with family and friends.  Her life revolved around her family and included her 4-H kids as she served as a 4H leader/mom.  Her leaving has left a tremendous hole in the lives of those left behind.  Special thanks are extended to the staff at Maple Winds Care Center for their care and compassion in Lois' final days. Friends will be received from   1:00 to 3:00 p.m., Tuesday at the Askew-Houser Funeral Homes, Inc., Nanty Glo, where a funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m., Rev. Ashley Weyant, officiating.  Interment at Pike Brethren Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers donations in Lois' memory may be made to the American Cancer Society (www.donate.cancer.org)
