NEALEN - William “Bill” Dale, Sr., 77, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on November 4, 2023.  Born on July 18, 1946, at home in Johnstown (Mundy’s Corner), he was the son of the late Vincent and Inez (Toner) Nealen. Preceded in death by siblings:  Bertha Conibear, Priscilla Kozorosky, Alice Tewart, Jacob Nealen and Ronald Nealen.   Survived by his loving wife Betty (Edwards) Nealen, with whom he shared 55 years of marriage;  children:   Brenda (Dave) Sanner, William Jr. (Karan) Nealen, Barbara (Darrin) Mayer, Brian (Virginia) Nealen and Robert (Heather) Nealen; grandchildren:  William III (Donna), Zachary (Maria), Alexis, Garrett, Levi, Robert Leo and Ben; and great-grandchildren:  Landyn, Emily, Liam, August and Grace.  Also survived by siblings: Vincent Nealen, Teresa Harker, Linda Walk and Elaine Hildebrand; and numerous nieces and nephews. Bill was a loving devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He was dedicated to his family. He was a lifelong member of St. John Vianney Catholic Church, Mundys Corner, where he helped other church members from time to time and did odd jobs around the church and rectory.  Bill served in the Army from 1965 -1967, stationed at Fort Eustis, Virginia.  He worked for Charles J. Merlo for 43 years as a truck driver and a heavy equipment operator. Member of the Jackson Township Hunting Camp. He also loved spending time at his camp at Prince Gallitzin, and enjoyed spending time fishing, hunting, boating and most of all he loved spending time with his family and his four-legged best friend, “Jack”. Friends will be received 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday at the Askew-Houser Funeral Homes, Inc., Nanty Glo, where  vigil prayer service will be held. Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. on Thursday at St. John Vianney Church. Interment, Holy Name Cemetery. Military Rite by Blacklick Valley Ritual Team. In lieu of flowers, donations in Bill’s memory may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital (www.stjude.org).  Condolences may be left for the family at www.askew-houser.com
