SINGER- Donald Meade, Sr., 87, of Mundy’s Corner, passed away December 25, 2023. Born December 7, 1936 in Johnstown. Preceded in death by grandparents, Celestine Blair & Mary Ellen (Kerr) Singer; mother and stepfather, Alice (Singer) and her husband John B. McHugh; uncles, Dwight and his wife Gertrude; Everett and his wife Martha; Dale and his wife Leona. Survived by devoted wife of 66 years, the former Joyce Gongloff; children, Chris (Cheryl); Cynthia Dugan; Lori (Billy Banks); Mary (Fred) Singer Morris; and Donald Jr. (Melissa). Grandchildren, Michael (Karlie) Dugan; Bradley (Jolene) Dugan; and Haylee Singer. Great Grandchildren, Miles, Lucy, and Rex Dugan. Also survived by sister, Marsha (McHugh) and her husband Larry Perryman; nephews; and brother-in-law, William Gongloff. Don was a Forest Fire Warden, a devoted member of the Jackson Township Fire Company and a member of the Little Bear Hunting Camp. Retired from Bethlehem Steel. He worked tirelessly to support his family, loved hunting and fishing; and had a very kind heart, a very quick wit, a profound knowledge of world history, events, and public policy. Private services held at the convenience of the family and are in care of the Askew-Houser Funeral Homes, Inc., Nanty Glo. Donations in Don’s memory may be made to Jackson Twp.
