I met Walter at the Cambridge Retirement Center in 2023 while I visited one of his roomates, Tony Zach. Tony and Walter were the same age and defended our country during WWII. Sadly we lost Tony not long before Walter. I remember Walter as a quiet, polite man who didn’t complain about anything. He appreciated whatever the nursing staff did for him. I am glad to have met another member of the “Greatest Generation” who asked for nothing but gave all to others. Sincerely, Patty Ramsay

As I sit and think about Walt, my mind goes back to the days seeing him on his tractor in the fields. The days I would be venturing out between the farms and our property, I would look forward to waving at him as he plowed the fields or was fixing machinery in the side barn. I will always remember the times he would walk up to our house with vegetables, and my dad, Danny, would immediately make slum gum with the fresh squash. What a joy to have had neighbors like Walt & Betty. With so much love and affection.

Uncle Walter always made me feel so special, he took the time to talk and listen. I loved as a child when he would take me up in the fields deer spotting at night. I enjoyed spending time with him at Ashleigh's wedding and him sharing his account of Germany during and after the war. Always so kind, I will miss him.
