MAYANCSIK – James J., 83, of Vintondale, passed away March 19, 2024 at home. Born April 11, 1940 in Twin Rocks, son of the late Joseph and Mary A. (Topor) Mayancsik. Preceded in death by his brother, JoJo. Survived by wife, the former Mary Lonetti; children, Regina (Dave) Mumau; Thomas (Kathy) Mayancsik; and Nora (Thomas) Pennington. 7 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. Also survived by brothers, Robert (Maryanne), Edward (Patricia) and Ron (Tracy); and sisters, Joanne and Barb (Dennis) Kovach; and numerous nieces and nephews. Jim was a member of many numerous organizations during his life. He was also very proud to be a US Army veteran, fireman, coal miner, steel worker and especially proud of his three children. A special thank you to the entire Veterans Association of Johnstown/Altoona; also Dr. Wilson, Dr. Sbeitan, Lisa Fredrick, UPMC Home Health; and Jim’s special neighbors for all their help. Friends will be received from 12 p.m. until time of funeral service at 2 p.m. on Sunday at the Askew-Houser Funeral Homes, Inc., Nanty Glo, Deacon Thomas Buige, officiating. Military Rite by Blacklick Valley Ritual Team will be held at 1:45 p.m. at the funeral home just prior to the service. Interment St. Charles Cemetery Twin Rocks.
