YARNISH – James “Pook”, 92, of Ebensburg, passed away July 20, 2024 at UPMC-Altoona. Born April 8, 1932 in Lilly, son of the late Stiney and Marty Yarnish. Preceded in death by his wife, Jean; twin infant brothers; and sisters, Janice Muriceak, DeSales Yingling and Dorothy Mae Conrad. Survived by children, Beverly (Eric) Cosby; Connie (Larry) Kovach; James, Jr. (Misty) Yarnish; Shari (Bill) Heberling; and Tim (Gretchen) Yarnish. 15 Grandchildren and 19 Great Grandchildren. Brother of Erlynn Amrhein; Darnell Steberger; Debbie (Mike) McCarthy; and Norbert (Beverly) Yarnish. Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews; and special companion, Sylvia Susko. Member of Holy Name Catholic Church, Ebensburg. Retired railroader for many years. Patriarch of his family, he enjoyed woodworking and keeping busy. There was nothing he couldn’t fix. Pook will be sadly missed by all of his family and friends.  A gathering of family and friends will be held at Holy Name Church from 9a.m. followed by funeral mass at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, July 31, the Rev. Brian Warchola, celebrant. Committal, Holy Name Mausoleum. Donations may be made to The American Cancer Society in Pook’s memory.
