KNOBLOCH – Ernest H., 87, of Johnstown, was called home on Jan. 27, 2010 from Memorial Medical Center. Born Feb. 25, 1922 in Franklin Borough, son of the late Herman and Cecelia (Shuman) Knobloch. Preceded in death by wife, Anna; brother Joseph; and sisters, Miriam, Mary Sue, Grace and Margaret. Survived by children, David E. and wife, former Edie Marie Stumpo, Johnstown; and Deborah and husband Joe Columbus, Ebensburg. Grandchildren, David Michael (Vicki Bieter); Gregory T. Grimes and wife, former Therese Wirfel; Staff Sgt. Christopher M. Grimes, USAF; Jonathan A. and wife, former Kristy Pearson; and step son Joe Columbus. Great grandchildren, Devon, Hannah, Luke, Anna and Cael. Sister, Thelma Popp, Mineral Point; and numerous nieces and nephews. Also survived by special friend, Ethel Shaffer. Member of St. John Vianney Catholic Church, Mundys Corner; Council 467 K of C, Johnstown; Sgt. Michael Strank Post, VFW, Franklin Borough; and American Legion; Member Lake Glendale Pontoon Association; WW II Army Air Corp. veteran having served in the South Pacific; Member Civilian Conservation Corp.,served at Elimsport, PA, Camp White Deer; Retired in 1978 from Bethlehem Steel Corp.; Ernie enjoyed camping and pontoon boating at Prince Gallitzin State Park. Friends will be received from 2-4 & 6-8 pm Friday at the Askew-Houser Funeral Homes, Inc., Nanty Glo, where vigil prayer service will be held. Funeral Mass will be held at 10am on Saturday at St. John Vianney Catholic Church, the Rev. Andrew Stanko, celebrant. Committal to follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery, Johnstown with military rite by Menoher Post 155 VFW Ritual Team.
