SIMMERS - Ida Marie (Orsato), 92, of St John Paul II Manor and formerly of Nanty Glo, passed away peacefully on Saturday August 10, 2024 at UPMC Altoona Hospital, surrounded by her loving family.  Born October 14, 1931 in Nanty Glo, daughter of the late Dominick and Ermelinda (Pasquali) Orsato.    Preceded in death by husband,  Robert R. Simmers;  sons-in-law: Dale Lauer and John Fornari;  sister, Elsie Fiore; and brother Matteo "Thomas" Orsato.    Survived by daughters:  Linda Fornari;  Christine (James) Laverick; and Cheryl Lauer;  nine grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; and sister-in-law Vivian Simmers.  Member of St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church, Nanty Glo, where she served as a Eucharistic Minister and volunteered for the St. Vincent De' Paul Society.  She had also served as secretary/bookkeeper for the family business Bob Simmers Ford Sales, Inc.   She was a past member of the Ebensburg Country Club.  She was an excellent seamstress, outstanding cook and baker, and loved to tend to her flower garden.  She will be forever remembered for her willingness and eagerness to help others, especially her family.  She showed great love for her family, especially her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

A Gathering of Friends will be held from 9:00 a.m., Saturday, August 17th at St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church 1020 Caroline Street, Nanty Glo, followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00 a.m., Fr. Brian Warchola, celebrant.  Interment Saint Mary's Cemetery, Nanty Glo.  In lieu of flowers, donations in Ida's memory may be made to the Nanty Glo Volunteer Fire Company or to St. Mary's Catholic Church, Nanty Glo.
