RAGER – Laird Martin, 95, of Jackson Twp., passed away Sept. 28, 2024 at Memorial Medical Center. Born Feb. 26, 1929 in Mineral Point, son of the late Ross and Annie (Fitz) Rager. Preceded in death by daughter in law, Debby; and sisters, Helen, Florence and Shirley. Last surviving member of his immediate family. Survived by wife, the former Jean Easterbrook, to whom he was married for nearly 72 years; and children, Keith (Claudia) Rager; Randy (Lucille) Rager; Marty (Wendy) Rager; Pam (Robert) Piper; and Shelly (Bob) Craft. 11 Grandchildren and 16 Great Grandchildren. Member of Pleasant Hill Church of the Brethren, Johnstown. WW II and Korean War veteran, having served in Japan and Korea with the US Army. Retired truck driver with Ward Trucking Co. Laird enjoyed being a farmer on the family farm. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing; and loved his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Friends will be received from 6-8 p.m. on Friday at the Askew-Houser Funeral Homes, Inc., Nanty Glo and from 10 a.m. until time of funeral service at 11 a.m. on Saturday at Pleasant Hill Church of the Brethren, 856 Benshoff Hill Rd, Johnstown, Pastor Robert Wolf, officiating. Interment, Ogden Cemetery. Military Rite by Blacklick Valley Ritual Team.
