BENDER – Florence A. “Grammy Flo”, 88, of Nanty Glo, passed away Nov. 5, 2024 at home. Born June 25, 1936 in Nanty Glo, daughter of the late Joseph and Mary (Dropcho) Funyak. Preceded in death by husband, Steve; infant grandson, Nathan Bender; son in law, Scott Clossin; brothers, Joseph, Lawrence, Edward and Philip; and sisters, Barbara and Sr. Mary Beth. Last surviving member of her immediate family. Survived by children, Stephen (Lori) Bender; Michael (Sherry) Bender; Barbara (Paul) Alexander; Jennifer Clossin; Lynn (Matthew) Miller; and Suzanne (Joseph) Clark. 15 Grandchildren. 4 Great Grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Member of St. Nicholas Byzantine Catholic Church, Nanty Glo. Florence enjoyed cooking large family meals; loved traveling and going to the casinos. She will be sadly missed by everyone who knew her. Friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Friday at the Askew-Houser Funeral Homes, Inc., Nanty Glo. Divine Liturgy will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday at St. Nicholas Byzantine Church, the Rev. Dr. Robert Oravetz and Rev. Andrew Deskevich. Interment to follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Nanty Glo.
