Odessa V. Morris Obituary

MORRIS – Odessa V., 95 of Carrolltown, passed away peacefully December 14, 2024 at Haida Healthcare, Hastings.  Born July 14, 1929 in West Carroll Twp., daughter of the late Charles and Mabel (Lamer) Hertzog.  Preceded in death by husband Merton Morris, special companion Richard Nealen, sons Henry and Dan Morris, and Donald Alt;  grandsons: Nathan J and Michael Morris, and siblings: Nettie, Theresa; Howard, John, Bill, Ellisworth, Raymond, Conrad, and Edward.


 


Survived by sons Roger, Eugene, Larry, David, Wayne and Ron Morris;  step-son Chuck Morris, step-daughters Lucille Croyle and Virginia Valenti; 21 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, and 14 great-great grandchildren.  Also survived sisters: Elizabeth Lazration, Carol Degraw, Margaret Gauntner, and brother Elmer Hertzog. 


 


Odessa was a member of St. Benedict Roman Catholic Church in Carrolltown, where she had been a member of the Altar/Rosary Society. 


A proud and strong matriarch of a large family, she will be long remembered for her cooking skills and her awesome role as mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.


 


Friends will be received from 9:30am til 11:30am Friday December 20th at the Askew-Houser Funeral Homes, Inc., Ebensburg, followed by a Funeral Mass at St. Benedicts, Carrolltown at 12:00pm Fr. Michael Gabler, OSB, celebrant.  Interment to follow at Lloyd Cemetery, Ebensburg.
