Obituary of Rev. Stanley D. Nixon
NIXON – Rev. Stanley D., 70, of South Ebensburg, passed away January 8, 2025. Born June 27, 1954 in Parkersburg, West Virginia and raised in St. Mary’s, West Virginia. Son of the late Robert Worthy and Bonnie Louise (Blouir) Nixon.
Survived by wife, the former SallyAnn Hawk, to whom he was married for 50 years; and sons, Jeremy D. (Michele) Nixon and Jerrod D. (Ashley) Nixon. Grandsons, Zachery (Michelle) Nixon; Jaxton, Rykker and Barett Nixon. Also survived by sisters: Beth Fluellen and Jennie (George) Jefferson, and brother Jon Queen.
Member of Ebensburg United Methodist Church, where he was a retired ordained minister. Rev. Stanley was the founder of the Western Pennsylvania Prison Ministries. A U.S. Marine Corp. veteran having served during the Vietnam Era. Member of Ebensburg American Legion Post 363. Life member of the D.A.V. Stanley enjoyed traveling, camping and boating with his wife and family. He loved Penn State Football and PSU Men’s Hockey
Friends will be received from 5-7 p.m. on Wednesday at the Askew-Houser Funeral Homes, Inc., Ebensburg, and from 10 a.m. until time of funeral service at 11 a.m. Thursday, at the Ebensburg Methodist Church, Pastor Ashley Weyant, officiating. Interment, Forest Lawn Cemetery, Johnstown. Military Rites by local veteran’s organizations. In lieu of flowers, donations in Stanley’s memory may be made to Ebensburg Methodist Church Parking Lot Fund.
