TUBO – Joseph, 82, of Twin Rocks, passed away peacefully September 19, 2009 at home. Born July 24, 1927 in Madera, son of the late Pete and Anna (Mahalko) Tubo. Preceded in death by wife, Betty Jean (Walker) Tubo and children, Linda Lou Walker and Randy Tubo. Survived by children, Barry Walker, Twin Rocks, with whom he resided; Sherry (Daniel) Glass, Carrolltown; and Mark (Cathleen Rodgers), Cresson. Granddaughters, Trista Leah Dixon and Rebecca Lyn Tubo. Also survived by brother, Louis, of Ohio; 3 sisters in law; and numerous nieces and nephews. Joe was a retired miner from Bethlehem Mine 31. Member UMWA Local 1386. Member VFW Post 7605, Twin Rocks, American Legion Post 619, Nanty Glo. Veteran of the Korean War where he served as Lance Corporal in the US Marine Corp. Joe enjoyed fishing and hunting with friends and family and most of all, he enjoyed his granddaughters. Friends will be received from 2-4 & 6-8 pm Monday at the Askew-Houser Funeral Homes, Inc., Nanty Glo, where funeral service will be held 11am Tuesday , the Rev. John H. Snyder, officiating. Interment, UB Cemetery, Belsano. Military Rite by Nanty Glo, Twin Rocks and Vintondale Ritual Team. In lieu of flowers donations in Joe’s memory may be made to the American Cancer Society.
