Obituary of Henry E. Dickert

Dickert - Henry E. "Heinie", 83, of Mineral Point, joined the saints of Heaven on August 15, 2005 in Johnstown. Born March 10, 1922 in Johnstown son of the late Emil and Elizabeth (Herter) Dickert. Preceded in death by son George Dickert; sisters, Elizabeth Reed, Carolyn Holtz and Anna Miller; brothers Gust, Adam, John and George; and an infant brother and sister. Survived by wife of nearly 58 years, Anna (Schoenwalder) Dickert; children: April, and husband Harold Heisch, Texas; Faith, and husband David Pennington, California; Stephen, and wife Nancy (Fisher); David, and wife Joanna (Trahanovsky); and Matthew, and wife Renee (DeSalvo), all of Mineral Point; also 14 grandchildren and sisters: Marge Howard of Colorado, and Molly Wochner of New Jersey. Member of St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Mundys Corner. A World War II Army veteran, having served under the Big Red 1 in these campaigns: Algeria-French Morocco, Tunisia, Sicily, Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland, Ardennes and Central Europe, having received Combat Infantry Badge, Distinguished Unit Badge, Good Conduct Medal, American Defense Service Medal and the European African Middle Eastern Service Medal with eight Bronze Stars. Retired millwright from Bethlehem Steel Corp, with 37 years of service. Member of Jackson Township Senior Center. Heinie enjoyed farming, gardening and woodworking and loved to whistle all the time. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., Thursday at the Askew-Houser Funeral Homes, Inc., Nanty Glo, and from 10:30 a.m. until time of service at 11 a.m., Friday at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Pastor Lynn M. Sanner, officiating. Interment, Forest Lawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Henry's memory may be made to St. Paul's Church Building Fund.
