Stephens - Evelyn " Lolly" (Straw), 84, of Harrisburg, formerly of Alverda, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, January 7, 2006. Born June 19, 1921 in Berwinsdale, daughter of the late James Harvey and Margaret Jane (Lewis) Straw. Preceeded in death by husband Duane "Ane", brothers Ardell, Robert, Glenn and Reed and sisters Daisy, Dora, Goldie Erexson and Pansy Clawson. Survived by son William and wife Jayne (Walker), Grandchildren: Melissa Johnson, William Jr. and wife Heather ; and Laura and husband Edward Kempton. Great Grandchildren: Larry "Tre" Johnson III; William III and Q. Cody James Stephens. Also survived by son Robert McGarvey and family. A graduate of I.U.P., Mrs. Stephens retired as a teacher with Clymer Day Care and was active with Community Action for many years and was a member of Alverda Christian Church. Friends will be received from 2 - 4 and 7 - 9 p.m., Monday at the Askew-Houser Funeral Homes, Inc., Nanty Glo., where funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, the Rev. Clayton Harriger, officiating. Interment Pineland Cemetery Strongstown. The family suggests contributions in Lolly's memory be made to Hospice of Central Pennsylvania, at P.O. Box 266, Enola,PA 17025-0266. (Envelopes are available at the funeral home.)
