Obituary of Albert J. Szekeresh

Szekeresh - Albert J. "Bert", "Jim", 54, of Lebanon, Ohio and formerly of Ebensburg, passed away June 30, 2007 at Jewish Hospital in Cincinnati. Born April 10, 1953 in Johnstown, son of Martin and Elizabeth (Shuagis) Szekeresh. Preceded in death by sister Theresa Szekeresh. Survived by parents, of Mundys Corner; wife, the former Colleen Kelly, to whom he was married 26 years and children: Kelly, of Norfolk, Virginia; Sean, of Navarre, Florida, and Jared, at home. Also survived by brothers and sisters: Mary Ann (Bill) Smith, Ebensburg; Elizabeth (Ron) Ford, Franklin; Martin (Helen) Szekeresh, Payson, Arizona; Rosemarie (John) Kuhar, Vintondale; Joseph (Simone) Szekeresh, Mundys Corner; Robert (Isela) Szekeresh, Huntington Beach, California; Thomas, Mundys Corner; Margaret (Tim) Kasper, Milesburg; Andrew, Mundys Corner; Patricia (John) Kupchella, Strongstown; and Susan (Jerry) Huber, of Ebensburg; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, great and great-great nieces and nephews. A devoted husband and father, Bert touched so many lives and will be sadly missed. A 1972 graduate of Central Cambria High School, he had been employed as a station operator for Spectra Energy Corp for 20 years. A member of St. Francis De Sales Roman Catholic Church in Lebanon, and a former member of Holy Name Catholic Church in Ebensburg. An avid runner and weight lifter, he enjoyed woodworking, craftsmanship and helping others. Friends will be received from 2 - 9 p.m. Thursday at the Askew-Houser Funeral Homes, Inc., Nanty Glo, where a vigil prayer service will be held Thursday evening. Funeral Mass will be sung at 10:00 a.m., Friday at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Nanty Glo, the Rev. David S. Peles, celebrant. Committal at St. Mary's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Bert's memory may be made to St. Mary's Catholic School.
