Obituary of Mary Ellen George

GEORGE – Mary Ellen (Blasco), 94, entered into eternal life on March 7, 2010 at home. Born March 15, 1915 in Colver, daughter of the late Stephan and Suzanna Blasco. Preceded in death by husband, John George who died September 17, 2004 whom she married September 21, 1935.; sisters Ann Kruckmeyer and Helen Chisick, brother Stephan Blasco, infant brother John Blasco and grandson Thomas Buige Jr. Loving mother to Patricia married to Bernard Szymusiak, Nanty Glo, John S. George, Nanty Glo, Helen married to Deacon Thomas Buige, Nanty Glo and Carol married to Earl Hill, Ebensburg. Beloved grandmother of Bethany married to Christopher Hill, Dr. Erika married to Dr. Stephen Griebel, Brett Szymusiak married to the former Kristin Grande, Jacquelyn married to David Raco, Mary Ellen married to Jay Donato, Jodi Lynn Buige; Valerie married to Steve Engle, and Charlotte married to Jeff Starry. Great grandchildren Kelsey, Kelton and Kylen Hill, Emily, Katelyn, Danielle, and Samantha Griebel, Ava Szymusiak, Grant and Griffin Raco, Nicole Nedrich and Riley Donato, and thirteenth great grandchild, Calie Ann Starry due in May. Survived by sister in law, Mary George, Nanty Glo; and many nieces and nephews. Mary was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Nanty Glo, where she was a former member of the choir. She was a wonderful cook and made the worlds best nut and poppy seed rolls. She enjoyed gardening and always had a beautiful variety of indoor plants and flowers in which she took great pride. Rest now dear mother for your work on earth is done. You will live forever in our hearts. Friends will be received from 5-8 pm Tuesday at the Askew-Houser Funeral Homes., Inc., Nanty Glo, where vigil prayer service will be held that evening by Mary’s son in law, Deacon Thomas Buige. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10am on Wednesday at St. Mary’s Church, the Rev. Martin Cingle, celebrant. Committal, Lloyd Cemetery, Ebensburg.
