Obituary of Hazel M. O'Farrell

O'FARRELL - Hazel M. (Watson), 101 1/2, of Warren, Ohio, and Nanty Glo, passed away June 22, 2007, at Community Skilled Nursing Centre, Warren, Ohio. Born Feb. 4, 1906, in Nanty Glo, daughter of the late Lewis E. and Mary A. (Quick) Watson. Preceded in death by husband, Bernard; daughter, Mildred; sons, Leonard, Lewis and Donald; grandsons, Michael Carbaugh and Gary Prindle; sisters, LeVera Kelly and Betty Doubt; and brothers, George, Clarence, Doss, Calvin, Richard, David and James. Survived by daughter, Bernadine Prindle, with whom she lived in Warren, Ohio, but she spent most of her lifetime in Nanty Glo; grandchildren, Vincent (Vickie) Prindle; LouAnn (Lewis) Root, Sally (Allen) Carbaugh, Jeff (Kathy) O'Farrell, and Sherry Jays; great-grandchildren, Kyle, Stephen and Michael Prindle; Amber and Ryan Root; Cody Carbaugh; Shawn and Vinette O'Farrell, Kim and Ken Beadle, Brody and Molly O'Farrell; Josh Beadle; Jusdon, Tabatha, Tiffany and Calvin O'Farrell; four great-great-grandchildren; and sister, Mary-Lou Diviney, Sun City, Ariz. Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews and special nephew, Robert (Una) Doubt, St. Johns, Ariz. Hazel reminisced of her younger days about a soda pop factory that she worked at in Nanty Glo that her father owned, and to this day she did not like orange soda pop. She also used to talk about her father's coal mine, which enabled them to afford one of the first cars in Nanty Glo, and also spoke of the white coats and floppy hats they wore in the car, like you see in the old movies, and taking all day just to travel 80 miles. She had a long and good life. Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Askew-Houser Funeral Homes Inc., Nanty Glo, where funeral service will be held at noon Wednesday, the Rev. Marvin E. Lowery officiating. Interment, Lloyd Cemetery, Ebensburg.
