SILECK George A., Unk , 86 of Vintondale, passed away July 27, 2007 at Caroline Manor , Nanty Glo. Born January 28, 1921 in Vintondale, son of the late Joseph and Anna (Jacobs) Sileck. Preceded in death by brothers Joseph Jr., and John; sisters, Mary Stefanick, Anne Pytash, Sue Selip and infant sister, Ann. Survived by sister, Alice Sileck, of Vintondale and brother Michael (Marge) of Michigan ; as well as numerous extended family. A Graduate of Vintondale High School, he served with the 94th Army Battalion during WW II. He received his Bachelor s and Master s Degrees from University of Pittsburgh , and taught math at Conemaugh Valley School District for 36 years before retiring in 1986. Member of SS. Peter & Paul Russian Orthodox Church, Vintondale. Friends will be received from 6-9pm Monday at the Askew-Houser Funeral Homes, Inc., Nanty Glo, where Panachida will be sung that evening. Brief Service at the funeral home followed by Divine Liturgy at 10:00am Tuesday at SS. Peter & Paul Orthodox Church, the Rev. Fr. Grigori Tsjuman. In lieu of flowers, donations in Unk s memory may be made to his church.
