SIMMONS - MAE EDITH (SOULSBY) 83, of Mundys Corner, formerly of Nanty Glo and Ft. Myers FL., passed away July 14, 2005 at home. Born December 19, 1921 in Bakerton, daughter of the late Gerald and Myrtle (Donnelly) Soulsby.
Preceded in death by brother Earl "Sonny" Soulsby and first husband Alex George. Survived by loving husband, of 59 years, Leroy T. Simmons and children Peggy (George) & husband Don Deetscreek, of Ebensburg; Patricia Nelson, of Frederick, MD; Karen & husband Don DeGol, Sr., Hollidaysburg; Susan and husband Tom Luther, Ebensburg. Also grandchildren: Kim Ziance; Sharon McDermott, Susan Hollis, Gary and Nick Erculiani; Christine Nelson;Sarah Powell; Don DeGol,Jr.,Tracey DeGol; Megan Feeney; Nathan Luther; Amy Baker; Neil Snedden and Gretchen Luther. 16 great grandchildren. Sister of Margaret Kreshalk, Nanty Glo; Kathleen Koehler, Napoleon, OH.; twin brother James Soulsby, Altoona. And numerous nieces and nephews. Member of St. John Vianney Catholic Church, Mundys Corner. Legion of Mary. Former member of Ft. Myers Fire Ladies Aux. and Nanty Glo Bowling League. Retired nurses aide at Laurel Crest Manor. Mae enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren and loved crocheting blankets for each new grandchild. Friends will be received from 2-4 and 7-9pm Friday at the Askew-Houser Funeral Homes, Inc, Nanty Glo, where vigil prayer service will be held that evening. Funeral Mass at 10am Saturday at St. John Vianney Church, the Rev. Paul Robine, celebrant. Committal Pike Grace Brethren Cemetery.
