SENDEK - Robert A., 65, of Nanty Glo, passed away Nov. 17, 2007 at Rosewood Personal Care Home, Johnstown. Born December 31, 1941 in Windber, son of the late John and Mary (Pavlofsky) Sendek. Preceded in death by brothers, Edward and George; brother in law Alfred Bertagnolli and sister in law Irene. Survived by wife, Mary (O Brien) Sendek, and children Robert (Emmely), of Washington; Christine (William) DeMarco, Central City; and Rebecca (Wayne) Berkey, of Windber; Kimberly (and fiance Jerry Bailey) Sobonya, of Ohio; David (Jen) McMullen, DuBois; and Daniel McMullen, Lancaster. 18 Grandchildren. Brother of Verna Bertagnolli, of Ohio; Bernard, Ogletown; John (Rose), Washington; Dolores Bunting, Windber; Richard, Georgia; and Dennis (Eva), of Texas; special nephew Thomas Sendek of Windber, and numerous nieces and nephews. Retired electrician with Bethlehem Steel Corp., Conrail, and later Norfolk-Southern. Army veteran having served during the Korean Conflict. Robert was an avid hunter and fisherman. Friends are welcomed from 10am until time of memorial service at noon on Tuesday at the Askew-Houser Funeral Homes, Inc., Nanty Glo, Deacon Tom Buige, officiating. Military Rite by Menoher Post 155 VFW Ritual Team. In lieu of flowers donations in Robert's memory may be made to the Nanty Glo Food Pantry.
