SHANK – Robert “Smiley”, Jr., 71, of Mundys Corner, passed away Oct. 8, 2009 at Memorial Medical Center. Born May 9, 1938 in Johnstown, son of the late Robert S., Sr. and Alice R.(Miller) Shank. Preceded in death by grandson, Remington R. Rose. Survived by wife of 49 years, the former Carol E. Dishong, and daughters, Kerry (Mike) Mukina, Colorado; Traci (Remington) Rose, Vintondale; and Bobbie Lynn (Ryan) Yonish, Bethel Park. Granddaughters, Kelley Rose, Shelby and Katie Yonish. Brother of Thomas (Pat), New Mexico; George (Colleen), Nanty Glo; and Judith (Gary) Rose, Mundys Corner; and numerous nieces and nephews. Member of Pike Grace Brethren Church, Mundys Corner. Member of PA National Guard. He enjoyed camping, working in his garage, spending time with his grandchildren and hanging out with his sons in law. Friends will be received from 2-4 & 6-8pm Sunday at the Askew-Houser Funeral Homes, Inc., Nanty Glo. A celebration of the life of Robert “Smiley” Shank, Jr. will be held at 1pm Monday at the Pike Grace Brethren Church, Pastors Jacob Snyder and Adam Johnson, officiating. Interment, Pike Brethren Cemetery.
