PAUL – William D., 79, of Ebensburg went to be with the Lord January 4, 2011 at Memorial Medical Center. Born March 18, 1931 in Nanty Glo, son of the late William W. Paul and Wava (Rager) Paul-Takach. Preceded in death by first wife Barbara Ann Kalin, sister Wava “Tootie” Bates, brothers Fay and David Paul, and daughter-in-law Linda. Survived by wife of 15 years, the former Patricia Burgoon; children William D. (Karen) Paul, Ohio; Cindy (James) DeVechis, Alabama; Chris (Pam) Paul, Virginia; David Paul, California; Debra (George) Younkin, Nanty Glo; and Theresa (Gary) Holt, state of Indiana; 18 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. Also survived by mother-in-law Clara Kalin, Wheirton, Ohio and numerous nieces and nephews. Bill was retired from Wheirton Steel Company. Member of Holy Name Roman Catholic Church, Ebensburg; Nanty Glo Council K of C, and Steubenville Polish Athletic Club. He had also served 13 years on the Steubenville Borough Council. He loved to travel, enjoyed doing puzzles, reading, and playing bingo, and in his younger days played basketball. Friends will be received from 2-4 & 6-8 pm, Thursday at Askew-Houser Funeral Homes Inc., Nanty Glo, where a vigil prayer service will be held Thursday evening. Funeral Mass will be held 11:00 a.m., Friday at Holy Name Church, Ebensburg, the Rev. Msgr. Arnold L. Gaus, celebrant. Interment United Brethren Cemetery, Belsano. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Bill’s family.
