SABONYA - Susan V. “Verna”, 90, of Nanty Glo, passed away July 8, 2012 at home. Born Feb. 2, 1922 in Nanty Glo, daughter of the late August and Mary (Ogurchak) Chernisky. Preceded in death by husband, Louis “Duke”; brothers, Gus, Joseph, John, Albert and Max; and sisters, Ann Chernisky, Mary Kaschalk and Margaret Zygadlo. Survived by son, Louis W. (Ruth) Sabonya, Jr.; and daughter, Mary Ann McGarry. Grandchildren, Christopher and Jaime Sabonya; and Susan (David) Little; and great granddaughter, Amanda Kuhar. Also survived by sister, Mildred Warzel and numerous nieces and nephews. Member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Nanty Glo, Altar & Rosary Society and Legion of Mary. Friends will be received from 6-8 p.m. on Thursday at the Askew-Houser Funeral Homes, Inc., Nanty Glo, where vigil prayer service will be held that evening. Funeral Mass will be held at 10a.m.on Friday at St. Mary’s Church, the Rev. Martin Cingle, celebrant. Committal to follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery.
