STEPHENS William F., 82, of Belsano, passed away May 6, 2014, surrounded by his loving family. Born May 21, 1931 in Nanty Glo, son of the late William and Bessie May (DeArmy) Stephens. Preceded in death by sister, Rosella Norton; and sisters in law, Donna Stephens and Margaret Stephens. Survived by devoted wife of 39 years, the former, Anna Mae Bernosky; and loving step children, Peppino Joseph (Ann) Persio; David (Maria) Persio; Patricia (Ralph) Harvey; and Sandra (Dr. Mark) Hester. 15 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren. Also survived by brothers, John (Janet) Stephens; Edward (Nancy) Stephens; Robert Stephens; and Lawrence Stephens; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Retired Navy veteran with 22 years of service. Lifetime member of Nanty Glo VFW. Co-owner of the former Stephens Garage, Strongstown. Bill loved gardening and the outdoors. His pride and joy was his 1931 Model A Ford truck that he and his wife enjoyed. A special thank you to Grane Hospice, especially Mike and Stacy; and all the kind and caring staff of 6th floor, Amber Hills Care Center, Ebensburg. A gathering of family and friends will be held from 1 p.m. until time of memorial service at 2 p.m. on Friday at the Askew-Houser Funeral Homes, Inc., Nanty Glo, the Rev. Dr. Frank Brosius, officiating. Interment, Edwards Memorial Cemetery, Belsano. Military Rite by Nanty Glo, Twin Rocks and Vintondale area veterans organizations. In lieu of flowers donations in Bill s memory may be made to The Alzheimers Association.
