Obituary of Sarah J. Silvis

SILVIS – Sarah J., 75, of Homer City, R.D., passed away suddenly February 22, 2013 at Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center. Born April 7, 1937 in Buffington Twp., daughter of the late James and Rebecca Yarnal. Preceded in death by son Donald, sister Betty Yarnal, and an infant grandson. Survived by husband, Lewis C. Silvis, to whom she was married 60 years, and these children: Lewis Jr. (Robyn) Silvis, Columbus, Georgia; Ruth (Randy) Shoup, Indiana, Pa.; Richard (Debby) Silvis, Homer City; Alice (Jon) Lone, Michigan; Ellen (Steve) Cerny, Atlanta, GA; and Jenny (Bill) Naler, Homer City R.D.; 17 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren. Sister of Charles “Ed”; James “Pete” and William “Butch” Yarnal. Also survived by daughter-in-law Linda Foust, Bolivar. A member of the Gospel Community Church, Homer City, R.D.. Sarah enjoyed sewing, cooking, canning and baking. She loved to care for her birds and was an avid birdwatcher. Her hobbies included drawing and art and collecting angels. Friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., Sunday at the Askew-Houser Funeral Homes, Inc., Nanty Glo, where a funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, the Rev. Richard Markel, officiating. Interment at Pineland Cemetery, Strongstown. In lieu of other memorials, donations may be made to Sarah’s family.
