DEETSCREEK - Tracy Sue (O Dell), 49, of Summerhill Twp., passed away unexpectedly June 9, 2014 at Memorial Medical Center, Johnstown. Born September 4, 1964 in Indianapolis, IN, daughter of Ersal "Dan" and Dorothy (Kemper) O'Dell. Preceded in death by her father Dan, her father-in-law: William J. Deetscreek, and sister-in-law Justine M. Bailey. Survived by husband, John Deetscreek, whom she married December 21, 1992, and children Adam and Lauren, at home; mother, Dorothy O Dell; sisters: Nancy and Cathy O Dell, all of Granite City, IL; Kerrie (Kyle) Taylor, Troy, Alabama; brother Daniel (Holly) O Dell, Gilbert, AZ; mother-in-law Nancy Deetscreek, Ebensburg, brothers-in-law: Ken (Joyce) Bailey, Portage, and Eric (Erica) Deetscreek, Curwensville, and sister-in-law Donna (Don) Bloom, of Hooversville. Also nephews and nieces: Shawn O Dell, Paige (Jeremy) Nagey, Ryan Taylor, Matthew O Dell, Katie (Shawn) Herlehy, Kyle (Sarah) O Dell, Aidan O Dell, Sheena (Brian) Vorhauer, Amanda Faight, Kenny Bailey, Casey, Tanner, and Shaylee Bloom, Jordyn and Rylee Deetscreek; As well as grand nieces and nephews: Quinten, Leighla and Justen Vorhauer, Hailey and Alex Faight. A US Navy veteran, she served as an Air Traffic Controller during the Persian Gulf War from 1988 to 1995, stationed at the Naval station at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, and was the recipient of the Meritorious Unit Commendation, Joint Meritorious Unit Award, National Defense Service Ribbon, Navy Achievement Medal, Overseas Service Ribbon (2nd), and the Coast Guard Special Operation Service Ribbon. Upon arrival back to the states, she had been employed as assistant manager of the Ponderosa Restaurant in Richland Twp. Friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m Thursday at the Askew-Houser Funeral Homes, Inc., Nanty Glo, and from 10:00 a.m. until the time of funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Friday at St. Paul s Evangelical Lutheran Church, Mundys Corner, Pastor Kevin McNamara, officiating. Interment at Ogden Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations are suggested to the Wounded Warrior Project in Tracy s memory.
